If the pump is your only protection against flooding, arrange temporary backup protection while the replacement is being installed. A backup pump is useful when a primary pump fails, but it should have an appropriate power source and discharge arrangement rather than being treated as a reason to ignore a GFCI fault.

  • The GFCI or outlet is wet, hot, loose, scorched, or damaged.
  • The breaker trips along with the GFCI.
